Our History

  1. Sep 26, 1897

It hasn’t always been easy, it hasn’t always been pretty but it has always been worth it!  The process of unlayering this 1900s building has been nothing less than spectacular and has taught each one of our team members a lot along the way.  Through vision, engineering and design we had the ability to honor those that came before us by knowing the importance of true adaptive reuse projects for our community, while creatively progressing the space forward for the world we live in today.  Bringing one of Monroe’s oldest buildings back to life after she sat desolate for several years has been one of our teams greatest honors and goals for the people of this community.  Anchoring Monroe’s downtown for nearly a century and a half this building has worn quite a few hats along the way.  We are proud to be able to offer a unique product to the public as one of the very few mixed use spaces in the country which offers true whole animal butchery, a market, restaurant and event space in one. The Roe being a place where people can once again gather, honor and celebrate…IS THE GOAL !

  2. October 2019

From rubble… Monroe’s best mezzanine and destination… emerges. It is hard to believe this very picture is now where it stands.

  3. October 2019

Surprise… Something is happening. I wonder what its going to be? Another antique store? Man. I really wish we had a nice restaurant in Monroe.

  4. December 2019

This… was up for a while, but wow what a feeling to put up and have this concept come here… to Monroe nonetheless… the start of an incredible journey and also a lot of hiccups.

  5. December 2019

B.P. (Before Patio). The amount of incredible engineering, work, and ambition that was taken to transform this picture into what you past by present day.

  6. January 2020

The inital frame of the beautiful windows that now let you peer into the gorgeous space that is The Roe.

  7. January 2020

Finding horseshoes. Old metal bars. And a safe! Over a century’s worth of Monroe’s history uncovered from the original Farmers Bank (1891).

  8. March 2020

After this building was literally brick rubble, it was then reassembled brick by brick. Our incredible people quickly learned masonry, how to make arches, and reuse the original brick from the building to create the walls and foundation of our beautiful dining room.
